AIR NAMIBIA SUSPENDS FLIGHTS BETWEEN EROS AND ONDANGWA DUE TO RUNWAY SHORTENING BY THE NAMIBIAN AIRPORTS COMPANY
Windhoek, Friday 19th December; Air Namibia hereby confirms its decision to suspend flights SW101/102 this morning operating between Eros and Ondangwa. This action has been prompted due to the decision taken by the Namibian Airport Company (NAC), to shorten the runway in Ondangwa due to construction work being carried out. This decision was unfortunately only communicated to Air Namibia late yesterday.
Air Namibia is in direct contact with both the Director of Civil Aviation (DCA), and NAC to ensure they reach an amicable decision. We remain positive that our schedule for the day will be able to operate without further disruptions.
Air Namibia puts the highest priority to safety and we continuously ensure that we are working in a safe environment. Air Namibia will closely monitor the situation, and might have to resolve to cancel more flights should the shortening of the runway by NAC in Ondangwa have a safety impact on our flight.
For those booked passengers on Flight SW101/102 this morning, please be advised that Air Namibia will automatically rebook you into the next available flight.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenient caused to all our passengers.
